    Call for Abstracts for ISAM Congress 2019

    Abstracts of International Society for Aerosols in Medicine Congresses are indexed within the Journal of Aerosol Medicine and Pulmonary Drug Delivery (JAMPDD). ISAM continually works with JAMPPD to make sure that all timelines are met so that the abstracts receive the increased visibility that publication in the journal provides.

    After this deadline, the review committee and others supporting the congress will diligently work to review the abstracts that have been submitted. These will be screened for acceptance, oral presentations and potentially awards. Authors will be informed regarding acceptance of their abstract latest by mid March.

    Late Breaking Abstracts

    For anyone who missed the February 1, 2019 deadline the ISAM 2019 organizing committee is pleased to announce that late breaking abstracts will be accepted until May 1, 2019. Late breaking abstracts will be screened for acceptance to be presented as posters only at the 2019 ISAM congress. They will not be published in JAMPPD, however, copies of the late breaking abstracts will be available on the ISAM website. Anyone who was not able to meet the February 1, 2019 deadline is encouraged to submit a late breaking abstracts.

    Please send your late breaking abstracts until May 1 to ISAM2019_abstracts@fsrm.ch

    Abstract Format and Submissions:

    Abstracts of 1500 characters maximum (including spaces) should be in a word file, written in English, letter type Calibri and size 11. The 1500 character limit refers only to the body text, not including title and authors. Please indicate (underline) the presenting author in the authors list. Please note, that the download file on the system is just a body with the correct formatting. Please fill in additional information regarding your submission directly as indicated in the template.

    Abstracts with diagrams, charts and reference citations will not be accepted. Submitted Abstracts will be analysed by the ISAM Steering Committee which reserves the right to make the final decision on the type of presentation. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email to the presenting author.

    Accepted Abstracts will be a poster presentation. The review committee may give consideration for an oral presentation as well.


    These are the sizes for your posters: A0 = 85*120 cm (width x height).

    Students may choose to be considered for the Student Research Award and the Best Oral Presentation.

    a. The Student Research Award is given to an investigator who is currently a full-time student enrolled in an M.D., Ph.D. or Masters program and has demonstrated outstanding independent research in the field of aerosols in medicine. The award will be based on the scientific content of the submitted abstract and a nomination letter from the student’s research supervisor supporting the student’s excellence and future potential in the field of aerosols in medicine. In addition to a cash award ($500) and certificate, the 1st place winner will be sponsored (registration, travel, and hotel) to the ISAM 2019 Congress and will commit to publish part of his/her work in the Journal of Aerosol Medicine and Pulmonary Drug Delivery. A second and third place winner will each be reimbursed for their travel expenses to the Congress.

    b. The Best Oral Presentation competition is open to both pre and postdoctoral students (including medical fellows) and is based on both the scientific content and quality of their presentation. The top 5 applicants (based on content of their abstracts) will be chosen to present in a special Congress symposia. The winner will be awarded a cash award ($500) and certificate.
