    New ERS-ISAM joint membership agreement

    New ERS-ISAM joint membership agreement

    20-Nov-2017

Regular leadership meetings are held between the ISAM Board and the ATS and ERS leadership generally scheduled in May at the ATS conference each year. Many promising initiatives were discussed at the last meetings in San Francisco earlier this year, which will be announced in this newsletter or at the General Assembly next year as details are finalised.

One of the most exciting developments to arise from this year’s meeting with the ERS leadership is the signing of a new agreement for joint membership between ISAM and ERS. Under this new agreement, ISAM members will pay their regular membership fee (currently USD 150), then for an additional 20 Euros will be given full ERS membership as well.

The combined cost of the two society memberships will work out to be much more financially advantageous to our (ISAM) members than the joint membership package currently in place with ERS.

In addition, members taking advantage of this offer will only need to complete one membership renewal, for ISAM. The ISAM office will pass on the relevant names and payments to ERS, and members will then automatically be sent their new membership details. Previously, this type of joint membership had only been offered to national respiratory societies, but ERS has now, very generously, opened up the offer to multi-disciplinary societies such as ISAM. Joint ISAM-ERS members will be entitled to full membership rights for both societies, including access to the society journals, educational materials, reduced congress registration fees and voting rights.

The details of the agreement between ISAM and ERS have just been finalised, and the relevant signatures from the ISAM Board and ERS leadership are now being organised and will be in place for the next ISAM membership renewals in January 2017. This gives our members many good reasons to renew their memberships in 2017; in addition to the joint membership offer, ISAM members will be eligible to vote in the next ISAM election to determine membership of the new Board in early 2017, and will be entitled to reduced fees when registering for the ISAM Congress in Santa Fe, in June 2017.
